I was contacted by P & O cruises in 2005 and asked if I was interested in acting as Art Tutor for passengers. The opportunity to travel the world and paint townscapes and landscapes in some of the world’s most beautiful places and teach watercolour painting, my three favourite activities, was an offer that was too good to resist - I’ve had to make tougher decisions!

I tutored my first cruise on Artemis to the Mediterranean in June 2006 and have now conducted painting courses on twelve cruises – with Oriana on the first leg of the world cruise from Southampton to San Francisco via the Caribbean and the Panama Canal in January 2007, with Aurora to the Caribbean in November 2007, Aurora again in February 2008 for the second leg of the world tour from San Francisco to Hong Kong via the South Sea Islands, New Zealand and Australia and in June 2008 on Arcadia to Norway and the Arctic Circle.

In September 2008 I was aboard Aurora calling at ports in New England and Canada, including New York . New England in the Fall is a glorious prospect for an artist – those trees dripping in reds and yellows and golds set against the white clapboard houses and churches.

Last year I did two cruises – in May on Azura, one of the biggest ships in the P & O fleet and in September a cruise on the smallest ship, Adonia, to Istanbul, Yalta and a number of Black Sea ports.

My watercolour painting courses have been received enthusiastically by passengers and a number are now booking cruises on which they know I am art tutor. Here are a couple of quotes from passengers:

Extremely inspiring, very informative and helpful. A brilliant teacher and artist. Certainly the best lessons; I’ve learn so much.’

‘Excellent – enjoyed every minute – well prepared lessons. Going to continue painting after a 12 year gap. Given me the incentive to start again.’

Here are some images of paintings I completed during the cruises.
