Impressionistic Watercolour Paintings
My impressionistic watercolour landscapes seek to capture the essence of a place. A passion for the translucent but unpredictable effects of watercolour, which makes each painting an exciting experiment, are evident in these pictures. I feel that my best watercolours are created quickly to capture the ephemeral effects of light and atmosphere, although the detailed townscapes call for a more considered approach. Transparent watercolour washes are applied over a light pencil drawing to build up a painting using tone and colour to create dramatic effects.
